Sooty Bee is a St. Charles, Missouri company selling pure honey, creamed honey, specialty flavored honey (walnut, pecan, and bourbon), honeycomb, lip balms, and candles. Founder and local beekeeper Victor Imgarten first encountered bees and the benefits of honey as a young boy. Years later, after giving honey away honey to friends and chimney customers, Sooty Bee was founded. Sooty bee was founded as a sustainable, proudly local company with local apiaries committed to protecting our local bees and spreading knowledge to the community.

The Sooty Bee Story, in Our Founder’s Words
During chimney sweeping job, I saw a beekeeper working his hives. Out of curiosity, I later struck up a conversation with him.
He told me if I ever found bees in a chimney, he would help me catch them and help set me up as a beekeeper. I had never heard of bees in a chimney. Fast forward a month later, I found bees in a chimney, and we trapped them with the Queen. I was suddenly a local beekeeper.
I gifted the honey the bees made to our chimney customers, who came back for more. Sooty Bee was eventually formed to meet the demand for pure and delicious local honey. Apart from raw honey, we also sell honeycomb and honey-infused products. I continue running my chimney sweep business alongside Sooty Bee.
The Sooty Bee Difference – A Local Beekeeper Committed to Sustainable Beekeeping
Pure honey from a local beekeeper is unbeatable. Here is why honey lovers all over St. Louis and St. Charles, MO prefer our honey to store-bought honey:
- Our honey comes from the nectar of local flora. It is not blended with honey from other areas. This is the reason for its distinctive and mouth-watering flavor.
- We sell local raw honey. We keep it that way as heating it would destroy its beneficial properties and make it less nutritious.
- We are a sustainable local beekeeper. Our commitment to the environment and bee populations is set in stone:
- We prioritize bee and environmental health by ensuring a chemical-free environment and using natural remedies as much as possible.
- We implement the proper colony management and health management necessary for sustainable beekeeping.
- Our sustainable beekeeping practices positively impact crop yields and contribute to the larger movement towards sustainable agriculture.
Social responsibility plays an important role in beekeeping. When it comes to educating the local community on the importance of bees, we believe in “catching them young”. We are very involved in teaching kids about the impact of bees on the environment and continue to be a part of many such educational programs.
